Merry Christmas

Just perfect for the Christmas Tree.
Lovely ceramic stars made by Tracey Broome Pottery
The stars are 5" in diameter, using stains and oxides and they are fired multiple times.
Perfectly teamed with the lovely Christmas ribbon.

Screen-printed ceramics

Found some beautiful pieces created by Fiona Thompson from the UK.
Pieces are coil and slab-built earthenware, with coloured slips, and screen printed and monoprinted ceramic inks built up in layers on the surface. They are fired 3 or 4 times, with glaze, transfers, and lustres applied at different stages. The photographic images are manipulated in Photoshop before being made into transfers.

Amazing interpretation of the everyday teacup

I found this amazing interpretation of the everyday teacup. Worthwhile checking out the site on the intricate construction technique.
Bertrand Fèvre has just won first prize at the International Creation of Limoges Porcelain for his giant sculpture “Ceci n’est pas”.  Composed of 33 hanging porcelain pieces, the sculpture is a study in duality, in the positive and negative, the “tangible and intangible”.

New addition to the studio

I have just picked up my new (pretty old actually) pottery wheel from a lovely friend.
We parked it in the home/office to admire it. Next minute I have the wheel plugged in and trying it out in the middle of the office. The outcome was lots of laughs and a wobbly pot.
Yes... messy times ahead.
